Dawn Redwood

My dad loves trees. In Southern African slang, he is a tree "fundi" - an expert. His enthusiasm sparked mine - which is why I was so glad this was the first tree portrait I really felt I landed - Dawn Redwood is part of the metasequoia family. He got all six of his young kids to memorise it's cousin metasequoia glyptostroboides, just because he loved the sound of it.
